Fall is here!

Here are a few pics of our fall decorations. Fall is my favorite season. I love the decorations, the falling leaves, and all the yummy comfort food. I haven't gotten out Halloween decorations yet, but I probably will next weekend. Happy Fall Ya'll!

In other news, I started my job at the Bureau of Legislative Research and am liking it alot! I am a legislative analyst and act as a liaison that enables communication between State Legislators and a group of agenices that I'm assigned to. I am assigned to the Department of Arkansas Heritage, the Economic Development Commission, and the Insurance Department. Those are the big ones. I'm also assigned to the Manufactured Homes Commssion, and the Hearing Instrument Distribution Commission among several other small boards and commissions. :) It should be interesting. The best part, is that everyone I work with is very knowledgeable and very nice! It's really a true team effort and everyone has been incredibly helpful and approachable. Here are a couple of pics of my desk.

ch-ch-ch-ch-changes.....

Hello again all..... It's been two months since our last update. In that time, James and I enjoyed the rest of our summer, I went to Chigaco with my bff and big sis Stephanie, and last week I
received a new job! I will provide more details later but this is my new office building.

time for another update guyz!

soo....

It's been way too long since i've posted so i thought i would give ya'll another update from the last 2.5 months.

Katie graduated and so did Andrew.

..couldn't have done it without him.

Next the Waldens took New York City by storm! We saw most of the sights, including a celebrity sighting! On our first day we saw Robin Roberts of Good morning America at a burger joint called "Five Napkin Burger"!! it was fun.

In June-James had a little incident with a chain saw. don't worry, he's fine, but a little piece of his thumb is now resting peacefully in katie's parents' backyard.

he's doing a lot better now.

Since July began, katie ran in the firecracker 5k and we had a ton of fun with fireworks at the Watson's

Miles to go before I sleep

Happy Easter 2009 from the Waldens!

Capstone Presentation tomorrow at 11:00a.m. I'll let you know how it goes. James has been helping me get ready, so we'll see.

I found out last week that I have been invited to join the Junior League of Little Rock. This means for the next year I will volunteering and going to classes like mad. Thank goodness I'll be done with school! It'll be worth it when I'm finally a full member! :)

Cautiously Optimistic

Wow! Where did March go!?

It's April already and I'm getting geared up to present my Capstone paper. I have my pracitice presentation tomorrow. (eek!) I turned my paper in to the faculty last Thursday morning. Ya'll don't know how glad I am to have that thing out of my hands. I keep telling people "good or bad, it's out of my hands now!"

I also found out recently that I will be inducted into Pi Alpha Alpha at graduation. Even though I didn't have a 4.00 I still made it into the Honors Society! (3.93!) This is the first Honors society I've even been in, so sorry if I'm braggin'. God is good!

James lost his Aunt this weekend unexpectedly. Her husband also recently passed and they were very close. It's a sad time for the Waldens so keep them in your prayers.

We are planning some travels in the next few weeks and are both a bit overwhelmed. This Saturday we are going to see Death Cab for Cutie and the Cold War Kids at the Orpheum Theater in Memphis. :) In May we are planning on going to NYC (Lord willing).

This weekend we spent a lot of time outdoors. James mowed the grass and I weeded our front flower bed and planted some petunias along the border. Thank God for gardening gloves! I dug through countless worms, centipedes, and lots of other creepy crawlies. I can't say enough about gloves, gotta have em'!

Some upcoming shows to watch.... I am excited about the premiere of the new show on NBC, Parks and Recreation. I can appreciate it because I worked for a City for a year and attended countless, riotous public meetings. haha! I will also have to catch my regulars; Whatever Martha and Man v. Food. James and I have both been disappointed with the recent Office episodes. What is going on? I don't like feeling like the show could end at any time. It's unsettling.

Do ya'll remember the Showbiz Pizza band? I was browsing around facebook recently and someone had this link on their profile. This totally took me back to birthday parties! -This guy takes new songs and programs the "band" to sing/play/rap the songs. priceless!

I've really loved Psalm 32 lately. Just sayin...

Psalm 32
Of David. A maskil. [a] 1 Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. 2 Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit. 3 When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Selah 5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD "—and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah 6 Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him. 7 You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. 9 Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. 10 Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD's unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him. 11 Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!

I'm glad He's got me covered!

Soccer and Snuggies!

So last night, we went down to the Spa City to watch Andrew "the star" Watson kick some Lake Hamilton tail! He scored two points and Lakeside beat Lake Hamilton 4 to1! I am so proud of my little brother! I can't believe he's a senior in high school! all grown up!

Here is is kicking tail!

Here are some shots of us all bundled up!

After the game, we went home and broke out the snuggie!

Here are James and I with the book complimentary book light. :) I turned in my last paper for Effective Crisis Communication. Now the only thing that stands between me and my MPA is the Capstone paper. Tryin' to keep focused!

Smarty Pants and Valentines

My mom sent me a link to this video on Wednesday and I wanted to share! It's too cute! With James as my husband, our children will surely be like this!! ( but not for a few years...)

This next one is amazing. It just affirms how much children can learn at such a young age!

Valentine's day was nice. James bought me some beautiful roses and a sweet card.

We had a pretty productive day. We worked in the yard, took Jack and Ellie on a long walk in Knoop park, and I did the laundry.

We went to Ashley's for our Valentine's dinner. Although our waiter kind of ignored us the whole time, we had a delicious three course meal! All the courses were served in small servings so we didn't feel bad about how much we ate. I had caviar, prime beef, and chocolate covered banana beingnets? (sp) James had foie gras, lobster w/ grits, and a chocolate mousse, in between our 1st and 2nd course they brought out a lobster mousse, and in between the 2nd course and dessert we had a "pallate cleanser" coconut ice cream and passion fruit caviar. After we finished our desserts the also brought out two little strawberry cake puffs filled with raspberry preserves. SOO good!

I hope everyone else had a special valentine's day!
